OUR RESEARCH
Previous research has demonstrated links between sociality and survival/reproduction in several species including humans. However, being well-connected may come with risks such as increased disease transmission.
Work on social networks has often focussed on long-lived and slow-reproducing species (like humans and other primates). By researching a short-lived and fast-reproducing species, European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus), living on the University of Exeter Streatham campus, we will be able to build up a picture of how social structure affects individuals over their entire lives.
